Tips for Newborns

Newborn portraiture is one of my specialties. There is nothing better than having beautiful images of your little one that you can hold onto forever. To ensure a successful newborn photography session, it’s a good idea to do a little prep with baby beforehand. Try to keep baby awake for about an hour before the session. You can use this time to take care of baths and diaper changes if needed. About half an hour before it’s time for pictures, see if you can feed your newborn until he or she falls asleep. A pacifier, extra diapers and wipes, and a change of clothes for you and baby are great. You just never know!

What to Wear

Remember, neutrals are timeless! We can add splashes of color and specific styles during the session, but the foundation should be based on whites, tans, and other neutral tones that will still look classic years from now. We’ll discuss details when you come in for your pre-session consultation. You can take a look at what I have in the studio, and I can provide recommendations for where to shop. The important thing is to keep things simple, and pay attention to details: Wear shoes that match your clothing, make sure your nails are either freshly painted or completely free from polish, and avoid matching outfits.
