My Family and Photography

Happy Friday Everyone! It’s been a long week so I just wanted to hop on the blog today to give you all something a little more real and honest about me, my life, and what’s been happening with the Jones family lately.

This Picture

The picture below is of my little boy, Grayson. I think I took this when he was about 2. He is 3 now and turns 4 in October. His big sister was playing soccer (because that’s what she does) and we just walked over to the baseball fields right next to the soccer fields to snap a few pics. This sweet pea has always been my tag along baby.

I just dropped him off at school a few minutes ago and he was wearing his new t-ball helmet. His first game is tomorrow, it’s just with the YMCA in The Woodlands, but I think it will be so good for him to have his turn at something. He rides around with me each afternoon to soccer for Addie, and gymnastics for Hannah, and is always excited to be with his big sisters. I just think that it’s time for him to do some of his own things and I can’t wait to see how stinkin’ cute this is going to be. There will be pictures!

Family & Loss

In the past few months, my husband and I have had a few grandparents pass away. Pete just went to his grandfathers’ memorial service yesterday, and it was bittersweet for him. It’s hard when you see the family that you love grow older. It’s sad to see their minds fade away, and to see them eventually pass on. There is a feeling of sadness, but there is also joy  in knowing that they lived lives that were full of love and happiness. I pray that we all get to live into our 90s, as he did.  I know how lucky I am to be in my mid 30s and to still have a few of my grandparents around. Something special about the photo below is that Grayson has one of his grandfathers’ middle names (Aaron), and the other’s baseball hat from when he was growing up. So baseball just sounded like a good first sport to try ;).

Sickness

I was pretty sick last week, not only with the stomach bug, but with a terrible cold that turned into an ear infection as well. I thought that something was terribly wrong with me because I was dizzy and I had to have my husband drive me to the doctor (I am thankful for doctors and medicine, and am feeling much better.) However, after a long weekend of being isolated in my room, I started thinking…

Love & Life

As a Mom and a small business owner, juggling it all is my biggest struggle. As moms, our families need us so much. They love us so much. And we need to take care of ourselves first, so that we can be here to take care of them. My kids were all crying last weekend because they wanted to hug me and I didn’t want them to get my germs. They wanted me to put them to bed each night but I didn’t want to get them sick. Even though we were all in the same house, we were missing each other.

Moving On

I wake up every day excited about this business, excited to take pictures of babies, and families, while helping to take care of my family as well. Im so thankful that I don’t have to clock in and out of a 9-5 job, and that I get to create my own hours, schedule, and income. However, In the midst of it all, I have let my health fall on the side. I don’t sleep enough, I stay up late thinking or working, and I don’t eat well. I’m sure I haven’t worked out consistently in a good year. I make sure that I have all of the food and meals that my children need, and then I am last. So, It’s time for a change.

A Change

So, I’m going to do better. That’s what we do right? We keep trying. We are here for one reason, God has a plan for us, and we just need to open our eyes and ears to follow it. So when I take pretty pictures, or spend time with my pretty babies, I need to remember why I am here. I’m here to love you all. To love my clients, to love my family, and to always bring joy to others. But first, it needs to start with me. I’m going to make better choices, eat healthier and try to exercise more. I’m going to do better. Let’s all do better.
