Family Picture Ideas. What to Wear.
For your family picture, the most popular question that my clients ask me is about their outfits….
What do we wear??
There are so many factors to think about before deciding on your outfits. This is why I meet with each and every client before their session.
Below are 5 little tips that I like to ask before we decide on the perfect outfits:
- First, I need to know all about you. I need to know your style, the colors in your home, and what you want to do with your family portraits.
- Next, we will decide on where the photographs will hang on your walls, how they will be displayed and any other ideas you have (like framed prints for family or special surprises.)
- After we have decided on where these images will be beautifully displayed, we need to decide on the location. Is it spring or fall? Are we going to the beach or to your favorite outdoor sunset location?
- Now that we have decided on the most important details, we have things pretty narrowed down. Next, we need to decide on accessories. Big or Small. Mom, Dad and Children.
- Last but not least, family heirlooms. Is there something special that you want to incorporate into your session? Are you going to wear your mother’s necklace or your grandmother’s wedding ring? I just like to know about sentimental accessories so that I am sure to capture them during your session.
Putting it All Together
Example:
Home: Tan Walls with White Accents. Furniture is all cream. Pink and White Accents.
Location: Fire Place Mantle and Framed Prints for all of the Grandparents in a Gold Frame
Season: Fall in Houston. Not too Cold. Sunset Session in Field.
Accessories: Simple.
Heirlooms: These are new memories for our family while our children are little. Show Love.
