Maternity
Maternity Sessions are usually booked as early as 15-20 weeks. I typically photography pregnant mothers when they are between 32-34 weeks. You don’t want to wait to long after 36 weeks, because babies are known to arrive early. Also, pregnancy swelling tends to be more uncomfortable after 35 weeks so most women avoid waiting that long to schedule their session. If you are expecting twins, I recommend your maternity session a little earlier as well.
Newborn
The perfect age for a studio newborn photography session is between 5-14 days old. This is when babies are still itty bitty, newborn posing flows seamlessly, and baby will most likely sleep through the entire session. I’ll be sure to give you a list if helpful tips prior to your newborn session as well. After 2 weeks, most babies go through a growth spurt and they start to stay awake for longer time periods. They also become more vocal and wiggly the older they are, which is why a newborn session really is when they are still brand new.
Most clients book their newborn session when they are about 5-6 months pregnant to ensure that they have a spot when baby arrives. Because we never know exactly when baby will come, I only book 6-10 newborns per month to ensure extra time for re-sechuduling. Some babies come early, and others wait a little longer than their due date, and that’s just fine. If you are late to scheduling your appointment and already have your baby, that’s ok too! I occasionally have an extra last minute opening (due to schedule changes) or we can photograph you at home for a lifestyle newborn session.
Family
Time is flying by and your babies are growing faster than you want them to. Between work, vacations, sports, and all of the schedules in your day, I know that time is a luxury you wish you had more of. My job is to make this portrait experience simple, fun, and memorable. I will help you plan your outfits and what to wear, as well as the wall art in your home. Fine art framed prints, museum quality gallery wrapped canvas, and heirloom albums are always client favorites and the perfect way to cherish this time in your life.
