“Where should I take my senior pictures?”
It’s honestly one of my favorite parts of planning a session because there isn’t just one right answer.
The location you choose helps tell your story. It sets the tone for your entire gallery and should reflect your personality, style, and interests.
After photographing seniors throughout Houston and the surrounding areas for more than 10 years, I’ve learned that some locations photograph beautifully year after year. They’re timeless, offer a variety of backgrounds, and give us the flexibility to create a gallery that feels uniquely yours.
Whether you’re looking for a natural outdoor setting, modern architecture, colorful city streets, elegant gardens, a sandy beach, or a classic studio look, these are the locations I recommend the most.

Jones Forest (Conroe, TX)
If I had to choose one outdoor location for senior pictures with a grassy field, Jones Forest will almost always be at the top of my list.
Located just north of Houston in Conroe, Jones Forest offers beautiful pine trees, wooded trails, rustic bridges, and soft natural light that photographs beautifully throughout the year.
One of the things I love most about Jones Forest is that it never goes out of style. The scenery is simple, natural, and timeless, which means your portraits will still look just as beautiful years from now.
Because there are so many different areas within the park, it feels like we’re photographing at several locations instead of just one. We can capture images surrounded by towering trees, along quiet walking trails, in open grassy areas, and on a cute little bridge… without spending half the session driving around.

The Oak Atelier (Conroe, TX)
If you’re looking for a location that feels modern, elegant, and completely different from a park, The Oak Atelier is one of my favorite locations.
One thing every Houston family knows is that the weather can change in a second. One minute it’s sunny, and the next it’s pouring rain or unbearably hot. The Oak Atelier gives us the best of both worlds with gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces that photograph beautifully year-round.
Inside, you’ll find bright natural light, clean white walls, beautiful windows, and timeless details. Outside, there are elegant courtyards, greenery, and the most popular location.. the Willow.
The Willow is a a glass outdoor room that is beautiful all year long. I love to photograph families and seniors these for morning and afternoon sessions.
The Oak Atelier is perfect if you love:

If you love the outdoors but want something a little closer to Houston proper than Jones Forest, Spring Creek Nature Preserve is another beautiful option.
This location has a softer, more open feel with winding trails, beautiful trees, a large pond, and beautiful natural light throughout the year. It’s peaceful, quiet, and one of those places where you can truly relax and enjoy your session.
I especially love photographing families and seniors here early in the morning or during the hour before sunset. The light filters through the trees and creates a warm, golden glow that’s absolutely beautiful.
Spring Creek Nature Preserve is perfect if you’re looking for portraits that feel:

It’s also a wonderful location if you’re planning to wear a few different outfits, want to add family or fur-babies into your pictures, or just want portraits that showcase a classic outdoor session.

Market Street & Town Green Park (The Woodlands, TX)
If you’re looking for a little more variety, Market Street and Town Green Park are two of my favorite locations to combine during one session.
Located just a short walk from one another, these locations give you two completely different looks without spending your session driving around.
Market Street has an upscale, modern feel with beautiful storefronts, fountains, string lights, brick walkways, and stylish architecture. It’s perfect if you want your gallery to have a polished, downtown vibe.
Just around the corner, Town Green Park offers beautifully landscaped gardens, mature trees, seasonal flowers, and elegant stone walkways. It adds a softer, more natural feel while still keeping everything close together.
Together, these locations create a gallery with incredible variety.

I especially love photographing here in the late afternoon when the sunlight shines through the trees. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and one of those locations that always looks incredible no matter the season.

I especially love Hermann Park in the spring when the flowers are blooming, but it’s beautiful year-round. Whether you’re looking for classic portraits or something a little more elegant, this location has so many beautiful spots to explore.

If you’ve always dreamed of senior pictures by the water, Galveston is one of my favorite destination sessions.
There’s just something special about photographing at the beach. The sound of the waves, the soft sand, and the colorful sunsets create a completely different feel than any other location around Houston.
One of the reasons I love Galveston is because we can create so much variety during one session. We might start on the beach for those classic barefoot portraits, walk along the Seawall, explore the historic Strand District, or photograph near one of the many colorful buildings and piers.

How many locations can we visit during a senior session?
This is totally up to you! Senior girls often like visit two or three locations during one session. Choosing locations that are close together, like Market Street and Town Green or Rice University and South Boulevard, allows us to create lots of variety without spending your session driving.
What is the best time of year for senior pictures in Houston?
There’s truly no bad time for senior pictures in Houston. Spring offers blooming flowers, summer has lush greenery, fall brings warm golden light, and winter provides mild temperatures. If you’re planning to use your photos for yearbook deadlines or graduation announcements, I recommend booking several months in advance.
What should I wear for my senior pictures?
I always recommend choosing outfits that reflect your personality while making you feel confident. Most seniors bring two to four outfits that include a mix of casual and dressy looks. Before your session, I’ll help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully with the locations we’ve selected. Favorites include your letter jacket, college t-shirt and jeans, a nicer outfit like a dress or suit, and anything that represents your personality.
Can my parents or siblings be in a few pictures?
Absolutely! A lot of families choose to jump in for a few portraits at the beginning or end of the session. These often become favorite images because they celebrate this exciting milestone together and it’s usually the last family portrait that they have of everyone living under the same roof before heading off to college.
Can I bring my dog or other pets?
Yes! I love when seniors include their pets. Whether it’s your dog, horse, or another animal that’s been part of your life, I’m happy to incorporate them into your session when possible.
How far in advance should I book my senior pictures?
The earlier, the better. My calendar fills quickly during senior season, especially during spring and fall. Booking early gives you the best selection of dates and allows plenty of time for yearbook deadlines, graduation announcements, and ordering artwork for your home.
