I have known Stephanie and her family for a long time now. They are family friends and I always enjoy our sessions together! I did her little boy’s newborn session when he arrived, their very first family session, and Stephanie’s maternity session when she was pregnant with her daughter. I was delighted to do this newborn lifestyle photography session for her little girl as well! This was a lifestyle photography session, so we did it at Stephanie’s home in Crosby. Lifestyle sessions are often the perfect choice for newborn sessions. I especially recommend it when the new baby isn’t the only little one mommy has at home! I have a hair and makeup artist who visits before the session starts to get mom looking her best. It’s fun to offer my clients some pampering in the comfort of their own home! Because I’m a mommy of three amazing kiddos myself I know how hectic family life can get! I like to keep things as easy as possible for the families I work with.

New baby Kennedy is such a cutie pie! She has a full head of soft, fluffy hair and gorgeous dark eyes. One of my favorite things about newborns is their perfect, tiny fingers and toes. I couldn’t resist getting some closeup shots of those sweet little digits! New babies are such a miracle.

We used a window as the backdrop for some of our shots and I love the way it suffuses those photos with light!

Big brother Chandler did such a great job with his baby sister. What a sweet family!

One of the advantages of lifestyle photography is that you really can customize it to fit your style. Stephanie wanted a casual look for this session: jeans for mom, shorts and a t-shirt for Chandler. The result looks comfy and totally natural. That’s what I love to capture! There is no need to force a look that isn’t you, because you and your family are gorgeous just the way you are!

Another reason lifestyle photography can be so personal is because it gives you the chance to easily use special objects in your session. We decided to include some of the decorations from Kennedy’s nursery so it’s totally unique to her. Plus it’s so fun to look back on those things as baby grows up!

One of the most special things I get to see as a newborn photographer is that precious bond between mother and baby. There is nothing like it! That sweet expression on a baby’s face as they gaze up at their mama is one of the most beautiful things in the world, so it was especially meaningful to record that for one of my good friends.
