Let’s take a peek into this newborn studio session so you can get an idea of what to expect when you bring your little one for newborn portraits with Shannon Reece Jones Photography. I design each session with love and care, putting together all the details that I gather from our consultation, so every session is different. Typically though, you can expect portraits that fit into these general categories:

Family Portraits

I like to get a mix of portraits that include classic and relaxed poses. Even in the studio, we can still create images with a lifestyle feel by using poses that look and feel completely natural.

Most parents who want to include other family members (such as baby’s siblings or grandparents) opt for an at-home session. However, if you prefer a studio session and wish to include siblings or other family members, that is certainly an option!

There’s something so special about individual portraits of each parent with their newborn. I love capturing sweet images of a new mama with her little one in her arms.

And there’s nothing quite as tender as a father’s strong hands cradling his tiny new baby.

Naturally, during a newborn studio session we’ll get lots of individual portraits of your sweet bundle! I have all the props, wraps, and headbands you could wish for, and I always build in enough time for some “outfit changes” for your little one so we can create several looks during your session.

Detail Shots

One of my favorite parts of a newborn studio session is documenting all those precious details. Those tiny toes and fingers, the curve of that soft nose, and the sleepy newborn smiles all deserve closeups of their own!

Absolutely everything you need—and then some—is available to you right here at the studio. Hair and makeup services, a curated studio wardrobe for mom and baby, and a selection of beautiful props and backdrops are all provided to make your session elegant, seamless, and unforgettable.

My goal for each and every session is to create custom artwork that you can pass down to your babies…and their babies. After your session, we’ll meet for your design appointment, so you can select your favorite images to be transformed into albums, prints, canvases, and other keepsakes for you and your family to treasure.
