This is the Lewis family. I did the maternity and newborn photos for this family and now their baby Harvey is six months old! He is growing into quite a handsome boy and is such a sweetheart. Growing babies change so quickly, and each stage is precious and fleeting. Although you may not believe it now, you will be amazed at how fast the time goes. As a mother of three myself, trust me, I know. A family portrait is a wonderful way to capture the amazing, ever-changing moments in your family’s life.
We chose to do this outdoor family portrait photography session at Hermann Park. This park is situated only a few minutes from downtown Houston, and has so much to offer. An outdoor theater, rose garden, butterfly exhibit, hiking trails, and more. It’s a beautiful spot for family photos. The pool, winding pathways, and lush greenery create a soothing and artful backdrop.
I generally do outdoor photography in the evenings. The light is beautiful at that time and I love the soft glow it gives to pictures. Kiddos generally love to be outside too, and tend to enjoy outdoor sessions. Harvey definitely had a good time! Outdoor photo sessions also lend themselves to very natural poses. I gravitate toward the natural in both poses and color. It makes my photography classic and timeless.
My goal is for my photographs to be an authentic and beautiful representation of your family. Because I know each family is different, I also have a studio option if you prefer. Since these often take place in the morning, they can be a good option if you have young children. Babies kept up past their bedtime may not be in the mood to smile for the camera! Whether you choose to do indoor or outdoor family portrait photography, you will have access to my studio wardrobe. We will also go over details prior to the session to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. This pre-session consultation is included in your booking fee, and is such an important aspect of your session. It gives us a chance to talk through options, discuss hair, makeup, and clothing details, and set the stage for truly customized artwork. I find that thorough planning beforehand makes for a much more relaxed session.
