Your big day is coming up, you’re excited to graduate, you want professional photos to commemorate the occasion…and you’re completely drawing a blank. Don’t worry! I have you covered with senior picture ideas! I’ve been photographing high school seniors for years and have tons of ideas and inspiration you can draw from. Here are a few things to consider that should give you some great ideas for your graduation photos:
Location Ideas
I offer both studio and outdoor shooting options. What feels most like you? We can do some shots on your school grounds or even in the stadium (a fun choice for athletes!) And there are lots of beautiful parks in the area. I do lots of outdoor portrait photography for seniors and others, so I know all the best spots. Or, if you feel more comfortable in the studio, I can create a studio session styled just for you.
Clothing for Senior Pictures
A school t-shirt or letter jacket is always a fun choice. But it’s really about what you’re comfortable in and the style you’re going for. If you want to get all dolled up in your prom dress, great! If you’re going for a more casual look, we can absolutely do that too. Or, get your cap and gown early and we can make you look like the smart, accomplished graduating student you are. As long as you like what you’re wearing, you will look amazing. I also have outfits at the studio if you don’t feel like you have anything suitable to wear. We’ll talk about all the details at your consultation.
High School Interests
If you want your graduation photos to really stand out, think about your interests and hobbies as you gather senior picture ideas. I’m all about personalizing your session. Do you play on your school sports team? Bring your jersey and let’s include a football! Just got a new car you’re super proud of? Why not get a few poses on the hood? Maybe you’re a bookworm. In that case, bring along a stack of your favorite reads to use as props! Whatever you’re interested in, let me know and we can brainstorm some creative senior picture ideas that include your unique talents or hobbies.
Family and Pets
Chances are your parents played a big role in getting you to this point–and they’re probably footing the bill for your senior pictures too. Show them your appreciation by asking them to be part of your senior photoshoot. Since you may not be living under their roof much longer, this is a great chance to get some beautiful family pictures that all of you can treasure.
And if you have four-legged friends that you adore, I’m totally open to including them in your senior portraits too!
Artwork
The end goal of every session is to leave you with beautiful, personalized artwork you can treasure forever. As you gather senior picture ideas, think about how you want to use your finished images. In addition to graduation announcements, you may want an album, a framed print or canvas, or gifts for the special people who helped you through this season of growth. Knowing how you’ll display your finished images can give you ideas for what style you want and what you’d like to include.
I hope these senior picture ideas have been helpful! Please feel free to contact me for more information about your senior photography session. I’d love to hear from you!
