Should you invest in maternity photos?

My clients don’t always directly ask me this question, but I know it’s on their minds. The first time clients call, it’s often because they are expecting a new member of the family and are looking for a Houston newborn photographer. One of the first questions they ask is usually, “How much does a session cost?”

This is a good question, and an understandable one. We all have to work within a budget and decide what to spend our money on. My clients want to know how much they will need to spend to have beautiful images of their new baby. And once they know, they also want to decide if they are going to add maternity portraits to their newborn session.

Let me tell you something. As a mom, and as a Houston maternity photographer who works with expecting moms all the time, here’s my advice: Invest in the maternity photos.

There is nothing more beautiful than pregnancy. There is no dollar amount that will ever add up to this precious time in your life. You don’t have to have an entire album of pregnancy photos, but even a handful of images will bring back the unique emotions and sensations of your pregnancy–and believe me, that’s something you will want to remember again and again as your sweet babies grow.
