I’ve shared some sample galleries of maternity sessions that include other family members (here and here)—but what if you want a pregnancy photoshoot that’s just for you? Take a peek into this beautiful studio maternity session with mom only to get an idea of what you can expect from a luxury experience like this.

Sample Gallery of a Studio Maternity Session with Mom Only
With this type of session, all of our portraits will be exclusively focused on you. So the variety will come mostly from different poses, setups, and outfits.
You can see from these images that a different outfit or backdrop can make a huge difference in the overall feel of your portraits. I generally recommend choosing at least a couple of different styles so that you can have images that reflect different aspects of your personality and pregnancy experience.
For example, in this session mama chose several different outfits that are all beautiful—and all completely different.
Examples of Outfit Options
For a sleek and modern style, we went with a classic, form-fitting black dress. (A little black dress really is perfect for every occasion!) This made for such a pretty silhouette against the white backdrop and gave us a series of clean, minimalist images that are just stunning.

For a more ethereal look, we chose a tulle maternity gown that has a slightly vintage vibe. The natural light makes these images glow, and we played around with several different poses, bringing in some simple props to give us even more room to experiment.
We used those same props with a white lace gown that looks so dreamy and romantic. Although we keep the studio vibe throughout the entire session, using props like chairs or benches, or even just a curtained window, can provide a more relaxed, at-home kind of look.

On the other end of the spectrum from our high-contrast images (black dress on white background), we chose an ivory satin gown paired with a backdrop that closely matched the color of the dress. The homogenous color scheme, plus the contrast between the form-fitting black dress and the loose and flowy satin gave us a style that was almost polar opposite—but still looks cohesive enough to work side-by-side in a gallery or album.
I am all about a calm, neutral palette, but that doesn’t mean we can’t bring some color and whimsy to your studio maternity session! This mama looked so sexy in a sheer baby blue tulle dress and I love the pop of color it added to her gallery.
