I loved photographing this family again! Bianca, Travis, and their daughter Emily have become good friends of mine. I did Bianca’s maternity photographs when she was pregnant with Emily, and also did Emily’s newborn photography session. Time has gone so fast, and I can’t believe this little one is a year old already! We decided to mark the occasion and get updated photographs with an outdoor family photography session.
You can see what a cutie little Emily was as a newborn. She has been absolutely gorgeous since day one, and that hasn’t changed a bit. She still has those same big beautiful eyes and soft hair, and I love her sweet smile.
Bianca is one of my best clients. She sends me referrals all the time, and I’m glad to know she thinks so highly of me! The feeling is mutual. We’ve even worked together: she’s assisted me with newborn sessions, and really is more of a friend than a client now. It was a pleasure to do this outdoor family photography session for her.
We chose a beautiful, tree-filled park as the setting for our photographs. It was near sunset when we met to take photos. I always do my outdoor family photography sessions near sunrise or sunset. The lighting is just perfect and I don’t have to worry as much about the Texas heat. The great outdoors makes the perfect backdrop, and is a great choice for families. If you’re concerned about weather or simply prefer the clean, crisp appearance of a studio session, that is definitely an option as well. I am in the process of moving into a new studio now and can’t wait to welcome clients to it!
Bianca and Travis chose warm, dark colors that blended beautifully with the deep green of the trees. Emily’s outfit was a brighter, almost festive, white and red plaid dress, complete with hair bow. This color choice really draws attention to her and makes her the focus of most of our photos. What you wear for your session is important, so the booking fee for my family sessions includes access to my studio wardrobe. I generally meet with clients beforehand so they can choose outfits and talk out the details of the upcoming session with me. I pride myself on providing truly customized family photos for all of my clients, so this pre-session meeting helps me to make sure you get exactly what you’re looking for.
With our darker color scheme, a few black and white photos were also a natural choice. I almost always include black and white photos in my sessions. They are beautiful, simple, and striking. Plus, they can work with any color scheme! And as you can see, if you have furry or four-legged family members, outdoor family photography sessions are a great place to include your pets!
