5 Ways to get Ready for Newborn Pictures

Are you expecting? Or, are you a new mom and oh, so tired? Do you feel swollen and not sure if you want to be in your baby’s newborn pictures? Let me stop you right now. You are beautiful. Even more, you just made a baby, and your body is amazing. You need to celebrate you, and this miracle, during this special time in your life.

And… that’s why I’m here. I’m here to help with every detail. I want you to be able to look back on your newborn pictures and treasure this gift of life. From hair and makeup, to what to wear, we will take care of you, and your baby, during your portrait experience.

All you have to do is hold your sweet baby, hair and makeup will come to you; and I will too, if you don’t even want to leave your home. If you don’t love your home, that’s fine too, you are welcome to come to the studio. We are here just for you.

Until your session day, I’ve made a few helpful tips for you keep in mind before your baby arrives:

  1. Paint your nails. Treat yourself to a spa day. Plan a few days before your due date, and go and enjoy a little bit of you time. Choose a neutral color that will go well with baby’s wraps and newborn accessories.
  2. Choose your outfit. If you aren’t sure what to wear, I have a studio wardrobe that you are welcome to use. If you would like to choose your own gown, I can help you with my favorite vendors, tips and ideas. It’s nice to know that you won’t have to think about that once your baby is here. Make sure you have some shoes you can slip on too ;).
  3. Choose dad’s outfit. Dad is going to be so excited, make sure you guys have his outfit ready too! Don’t forget to choose his shoes as well.
  4. Measure your walls. If there is a special place in the baby’s nursery, or in your home that you would like to hang a wall portrait, be sure to measure the wall. This will give us an idea for the picture’s orientation while I’m photographing you, and your family.  I can help you with measuring too, just ask!
  5. And last but not least, be sure to lay our anything special that you may want the baby to wear, or use during your newborn session. A going home outfit, a hand-made quilt, just let me know what you have, and I’ll be sure to incorporate it into your session.
