As a mom, I know how busy life can get once you find out you’re expecting. That’s why I make sure that planning your maternity session is easy and fun! Here are some of the things you’ll want to consider as you get ready. But remember, I’m here for you every step of the way! We’ll talk about all of this together, so don’t stress!
Book Your Shoot
You might be surprised to learn that this is one of the first things you’ll do when planning your maternity session. I encourage clients to book as early as 12 weeks so we can get you on the books and start preparing.
Gather Ideas and Inspiration
Spend some time on Instagram and Pinterest checking out photos from some of my other maternity shoots. This is a great way to compare the look of studio, outdoor, and lifestyle sessions; get outfit ideas; and think about whether you want a mom-only session or would like to include your significant other and/or older children.
Decide on a Location for Your Maternity Session
When you book with Shannon Reece Jones Photography, you can choose between studio, outdoor, or at-home lifestyle pregnancy pictures. All of these are gorgeous options, and I’d be hard-pressed to choose which is my personal favorite! Just know that you really can’t go wrong. We can chat about the pros and cons of each if you’re undecided. And booking a combination shoot (studio and outdoor) can give you the best of both worlds.
Go Shopping–Or Not!
I have plenty of beautiful maternity gowns in the studio that you’re welcome to borrow for your session. So if shopping just feels like one more thing on your to-do list, know that you can cross it off! If, on the other hand, you love shopping, I can help you choose a gown that will photograph well and be comfortable to pose in.
Pamper Yourself
I want your maternity session to be relaxing and special. And I want you to feel absolutely beautiful for every minute of it! That’s why I partner with Analisa Hastings to provide professional makeup and hair styling for my mamas to be.
Think About Your Artwork
The goal of every session is to leave you with beautiful, heirloom quality artwork. When planning your maternity session, remember to think about how you want to use your maternity photos. From pregnancy announcements to albums to framed wall art, I’m here to provide you with gorgeous keepsakes documenting this special time in your life.
