Maternity sessions are a timeless milestone that all new moms treasure. As a Houston newborn and maternity and photographer, and mama of 3, I know how exciting it is to be pregnant, and the anticipation that comes with awaiting the arrival of your newborn baby. New moms often reach out and aren’t sure how this whole maternity and newborn photography process works; so let’s walk you through…

Counting The Weeks Until Your Due Date

To begin, most clients reach out when they are pregnant. And a little secret; I usually know that they are expecting before many friends and family do. I am happy to add you to my calendar after the first 12 weeks. Next, we will pencil your maternity session in for 30 weeks, and your newborn session for 14 days from your due date.

What If My Due Date Changes?

Baby due dates change from dr. apt. to apt… so don’t worry at all. If the baby decides to come early, or later, then we can always move your date. I leave openings on my calendar every week for babies that have to re-schedule.

What To Wear

What do I Wear? This is the most popular question, and I’ve got you covered. The Shannon Reece Jones Photography Studio has a client wardrobe for mom and baby. You are welcome to borrow a gown (or gowns if you want to have a few options) for both your maternity and newborn sessions. I also provide all of the wraps and newborn accessories for the baby as well.

Hair and Makeup

Hair and makeup is a popular ad-on. I work with Analisa Hastings Hair and Makeup for all of my sessions. She has a room in my studio, and will travel for at home lifestyle sessions as well ( a new mom’s favorite!) You can peek into her Website Here.

Your Newborn Session

After your Studio Maternity Session (or outdoor session if you prefer that!) we just wait for baby! Once they are born, then we will adjust your session date and photograph you and your new family.

Printing Your Beautiful Portraits

What to I do after the session? After both sessions, you get to come to the studio to see all of the pretty artwork! We will make a beautiful keepsake album, custom framed portraits, birth announcements, and even gifts for family and friends! This is the best part ;).
