There’s so much to think about when you’re expecting! To make it easier, here are just a few tips for your newborn photography session!

Schedule Early

I often know you’re expecting before your family and friends do. As soon as you know you’ll be welcoming a little one to your home, make sure to call so we can get you on the calendar! I offer a limited number of sessions each month to make sure every client receives the detailed attention they deserve.

Choose Outfits

Soft colors and neutrals are a beautiful choice for newborn portraiture. I have lots of options for mom and baby in my client closet, so you don’t have to worry about that if you don’t want to! You will want to make sure that dad and anyone else who will be joining the session (siblings, grandparents, etc.) have some nice outfits picked out as well.

Take Care of Hair, Makeup, and Nails

I want you to feel your best for your newborn session! I provide hair and makeup services for mom so that you can have a little pampering if you’d like! I also recommend doing your nails beforehand, as I love to get closeups of your hands cradling your new baby.

Choose Your Location

I offer newborn sessions from my portrait studio in the Woodlands, Texas. I’m also happy to come to you! At home newborn sessions can be an especially good choice for families with other young children. They are also perfect if you would like to include extended family or even pets!

Think About Artwork

The goal of every session is to leave you with beautiful, heirloom artwork that you can treasure for years to come. How would you like to display your images? The SRJ Photography studio provides everything from quality prints and heirloom albums to gorgeous framed wall art and canvases. This way, your memories are more than just pretty pictures. They become a legacy you can pass down to your little one as they grow…and to their little ones after that.
