As a mommy to three, I know that there is nothing more beautiful than when your baby is born, that sweet cry that you hear for the very first time, and when you lay your sweet baby on your chest and feel their heart beat right on yours. Shannon Reece Jones Photography is a boutique photography studio serving Houston, Texas and surrounding locations including — but not limited to — The Woodlands, Spring, The Heights, Cypress, River Oaks, Conroe, Katy, Kingwood, Memorial & Magnolia. I personally photograph expecting parents, newborn babies, children and families.
The goal of each session is to create family heirlooms that tell your story. Each piece of artwork is created just for you — to share with your baby, and their babies, and generations to come. Maternity and newborn favorites include keepsake albums, fine art prints, and custom wall art designed for your home and the baby's nursery. Additional options include museum quality gallery wrapped canvas, custom framing, and modern acrylics. I believe seeing your portraits in print is truly the best part of the entire photography session experience. We will also plan your next session at this time if you are part of the First Year Baby Plan. I am truly so honored and overjoyed to play a role in capturing your newborn photography; it's my joy to capture your growing family.
Your viewing and ordering appointment is when you get to see your images at the studio for the first time and order what you love! Bring the tissue; those hormones are real, and there are always happy tears. Most maternity and newborn clients choose the baby plan, and order images to go into their first year.
Studio or at home lifestyle; a typical newborn portrait session can range anywhere from 1 hours to 3 hours. Your session will be completely baby led, so we will just take our time with feedings, diaper changes, and mommy snuggles. I recommend planning about an hour for hair and makeup before your session as well. This is a special experience!
From hair and makeup, to what to wear, we will customize and design the perfect style for your newborn portraits. I have gowns and newborn accessories in the studio that you are welcome to borrow, or I can help you choose your own. We will plan your final artwork, and when your newborn session will take place.
More than just a photography session, the goal for each session is to create custom artwork for you, your family, and your home. Following your photography session, attend your design appointment, where you'll choose the portraits that you love and we will turn them into beautiful printed artwork.

Q. Where do the sessions take place?
Maternity sessions take place at the Shannon Reece Jones Photography studio in The Woodlands, TX or at a local Nature Preserve. Newborn sessions are also welcome to be at the studio, or we will travel to if you choose an at home lifestyle session. We will chat more when planning your session about the best location for you and your family.
Most maternity sessions take place between 28-33 weeks of your pregnancy. We do book maternity sessions as early as 12 weeks, and it is common that Shannon knows that you are expecting before you even tell your friends and family.
Q. What about adding a maternity session?
Most expecting moms reserve their newborn and maternity session dates and times together. We will pencil in your newborn photography session about 14 days from your expected due date. As we get closer to your due date, we can always move the date back or forward if we need to.

Due to fluctuating due dates, and the attention to detail dedicated to each session, there are a limited number of sessions each month. Please reach out if you are interested in reserving your session so that we can get you on our calendar, as most families do plan 6+ months in advance.
